“FIVE STARS! I am an elderly gentleman and my family had urged me for several years to write my “story”. I’m well over 80 and spending 40 years in the British Army, it was a daunting prospect to say the least and always put to one side. However, my son introduced me to Julian Coles, Co-Founder of Forever Stories, and that changed the situation completely. Julian would telephone me on selected days for an hour-long session of “reliving my memories”. Never late, he first encouraged me to tell my family history and then to ramble on from earliest childhood memories through to 2022! He seemed to tease information out of me and, within 24 hours, would send me the result of our conversation in print, and my life story was on its way! I had never spent an hour on the telephone with one person in my life, and Julian always called me, so it was at his expense. I was encouraged to check each section and alter, add or delete as necessary. It was enthralling. The initial intention of a short story became a long one, with photographs and well over 100 pages. Most of my photographs were prints, some over 70 years old, but I posted them to Julian, and he not only electronically updated them but enhanced some of the older ones without losing their authenticity. Every photograph was sent back once committed to the book.
Julian was so patient throughout our five months working together. The way he translated what I had said into a very readable story was superb. I could make changes even at the last minute, something he encouraged me to do from day one.
The choice of the hardcover also took several changes, like choosing wallpaper! Various photographs, front and back, being repositioned, and even the main colour reselected. It was a thrill to be sent the final DRAFT book for double-checking before receiving the approved six copies for my immediate family. I was able to give them one on Father’s Day, and their reaction has been so rewarding. The grandchildren can’t believe what I have done and seen!
